    GoDaddy: widely used, lots of support resources

    Expect to pay roughly $10–$25 per year. You’re not buying it permanently; you renew it annually. If you stop renewing, it becomes available for someone else.

    What does a domain name look like?

    A domain has two parts:

    The name — yoursite or yourname

    The extension — .com, .co, .au, .net

    .com is the default for most businesses. If your .com is taken, you can choose from a list of other relevant extensions.

    What makes a good domain name?

    Keep it short and easy to spell. Avoid hyphens and numbers as they create confusion. janesmithphotography.com works. jane-smith-photo.com doesn’t.

    Your domain should match your business name as closely as possible. That consistency builds trust from the first impression.
